RULE THE WAVES
Named after one of the greatest heroes in Greek mythology,
60m Perseus^3 seeks a new owner to conquer the seas and the superyacht regatta circuit.
Built by the award-winning Italian shipyard Perini Navi, and with naval architecture by Ron Holland, Perseus^3 comes with an impressive pedigree and an exceptional sailing performance that gives her the edge on the regatta racecourse. This, combined with her successful charter record, makes Perseus^3 the ideal superyacht for an owner seeking regatta-winning capabilities without compromising on cruising comfort and style.
Perseus^3’s interior is just as impressive as her sailing credentials and her versatile accommodation arrangement makes her well-suited to charter. Across her five spacious suites she can sleep up to 12 guests, with cabins comprising a full-beam master suite with a private lounge and study, two VIP doubles, and two twins with additional Pullman berths – all of which are ensuite and have integrated audio-visual entertainment systems.
On deck, guests can enjoy a swim-in-place heated pool situated on the expansive foredeck and her large flybridge with cushioned sun pads, sofas and a BBQ for casual dining, offers incredible elevated views – it’s a particularly thrilling yet safe place to sit when Perseus^3 is powered up in race mode!
On the main deck, more formal al fresco dining can be enjoyed in the cockpit, which is sheltered from the elements by a curve of glass which also encloses the exterior lounge.

Burger van der Walt
Beginning his career in the industry 21 years ago, there is no surprise that Burger has a wide array of experience on many different kinds of sailing yachts. Originally starting out in the classic yacht race circuit, he skippered the very successful 1896 Gaff Rig cutter Avel, taking first class honours in many regattas. He has since moved towards the ever-evolving modern composite yachts, averaging 8-10 weeks of charter per season. Burger has sailed on the classic 65m Creole, Wally B, the 52m Perini Galaxia and 53m Perini Barracuda. He also has captained Perseus^3’s sister ship Seahawk for two ocean crossings. Burger was the first crew member to join Perseus ^3 during her build in 2013 and has remained an integral part of the crew ever since.
Burger is a skilled navigator with a degree in Geography and Public Development under his belt. He has sailed the Mediterranean and Baltic seas as well as the Indian, North Atlantic and Pacific Oceans on a variety of sailing yachts as both captain and crew. Burger has a love for surfing and all sports that get him into the water. He is a proficient and patient teacher and after spending three winters working as an RYA Yacht Master Instructor in Cape Town, he is more than happy to pass on his knowledge.
Darren grew up in the small coastal town of Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, where living on the coast for most of his childhood allowed him to develop keen interests in fishing, surfing and diving. After spending his gap year sailing the Atlantic coast of France, Portugal and Spain Darren returned home to complete a degree in Quantity Surveying. It wasn’t long, however, before the ocean called him straight back and he started his career in the yachting industry. He has since worked on a variety of sailing yachts over the past 7 years including the 56m Perini Rosehearty. Darren always has a smile on his face and approaches all things with a positive energy that is contagious to those around him.
Adam started his career aboard yachts in 2013 and since then has worked on sailing boats in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Adriatic Sea. Born in England before moving to Borneo and then Nigeria with his family, Adam developed a passion for travel. His decision to join the yachting industry came from his dream to explore and scuba dive in remote locations only accessible by boat. He has completed his Yachtmaster Offshore certificate and this year will complete his study for his Officer of the Watch certificate. He hopes to one day complete a passage to Antarctica or Alaska. Adam has a keen interest in marine conservation and has a degree in Biological and Medicinal Chemistry. He is a big fan of rock-climbing, hiking but most importantly…rugby!
With an advanced degree in philosophy and more certifications than you could shake a stick at, John embraces the many hats that a marine engineer must wear. He comes to Perseus^3 with a lifetime of sailing and engineering experience. John has been professionally engaged in marine engineering for the last 13 years and has spent two years teaching marine engineering at the International Yacht Restoration School. An avid scuba diver with his Dive Master, and a keen fisherman, John likes all forms of water sports. In his time off, John enjoys cooking and repairing antique motorcycles in his New Orleans’ fire station. Having walked and biked across several continents, John is now saving money for a drive from London to Shanghai.
Rob joined the marine industry over 20 years ago and brings a vast range of sailing and engineering knowledge to S/Y Perseus. Growing up in Auckland on the spectacular North Island of New Zealand, Rob spent time on the water cruising recreationally and sailing dinghys with friends and family. After school, he began to race keel boats and also gained a tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering. Rob then took to the water to combine his skills and during his maritime career has travelled broadly and worked on a vast array of yachts. In his free time, Rob likes to spend his time with his family at their home and tending to his thriving vegetable garden. He is keen to continue travelling, in particular to countries with rich ancient histories.
Following his education in Beverley, England, Alex chose to study Marine Engineering at Warmish Maritime College, South Hampton, where he gained his CoC and HnD. He briefly considered joining the Royal Navy, however, the adventurous life of super yachting proved to be his first choice. Alex has worked for two years exclusively onboard sailing yachts including the 70m Perini Sybarus. He has worked in both the Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas and has completed many Atlantic crossings! Alex plans to stay in the super-yacht industry long term and has ambitions to become a Chief Engineer. Alex spends his spare time listening to music and playing instruments, especially guitar. He is also a huge fan of football and supports Liverpool!
Travis, from Perth in Western Australia, joined the deck crew of Perseus^3 after two years working aboard both motor and charter yachts in the Pacific Islands and the Mediterranean.
Prior to joining the yachting industry, Travis worked aboard day-charter boats in Airlie Beach, Queensland, where he led entertainment activities for travellers looking to experience the Australian sun and sea. He brings this energy and enthusiasm to Perseus^3! Travis also spent time backpacking through South and Central America before being attracted to work internationally aboard super yachts. He plans to continue his maritime career and study to complete his OOW in the next two years. Travis is a skilled free-diver, having grown up learning this pursuit in Australia. He particularly loves to practice and teach water-sports of many kinds. As well as his many athletic interests, he has also studied and is knowledgeable in computer graphics and is an avid-reader.
Born on the North Island of New Zealand, Elle was raised on the beach and in the ocean. She studied a Bachelor of Education at the University of Auckland before deciding upon a career in yachting. Perseus^3 is Elle’s first sailing yacht, and she has previously worked aboard motor yachts for three years in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Mexico and east coast of U.S.A. Elle has a great love for travel, having backpacked extensively in South America and this year alone in Philippines, Vietnam and Nepal, where she volunteered in local projects. She loves hiking, diving and camping, a perfect day has a combination of the three.
While Dutch chef Stefans previous yachts include the sailing yachts Highland-Breeze, Axioma and Rosehearty, he is currently happy calling Perseus^3 home. Stefan has roamed many of the world’s oceans and seas whilst serving his fresh and innovative dishes to wealthy VIP’s, celebrities, politicians and even royalty. Nowadays, Stefan is still travelling and eating his way around the world and is ambitious and energetic, searching for his next opportunity to serve his first-class food to owners, guests and crew. He has recently completed Edomae Sushi training at Tokyo Sushi Acadamy and looks forward to transferring these newly acquired skills onto the plates of the lucky guests onboard. Stefan is always taking care of his guests and crew alike, with healthy and nutritional food of the highest calibre. His greatest passions are creating delicious dishes and travelling the world.
Bindy hails from the Sunshine Coast, Australia, and it was here where she developed her love of all water sports including surfing, swimming, wake boarding and just recently, kite surfing. Before joining the yachting industry seven years ago Bindy taught high school physical education and marine biology in both Australia and England but changed careers when the opportunity to work aboard yachts in Mallorca arose. Bindy has worked on many high profile large sailing yachts in the past, including Selene, Fidelis and Konkordia and rates the South Pacific and the Seychelles as her favourite cruising destinations. She is very excited to be a Perseus^3 crew member and is ready for a great charter season with the guests.
Holly was born on the East Coast of Australia, although she spent many of her younger years aboard her family’s sailing yacht while they ran expeditions to Antarctica and Patagonia. Holly and her siblings were active crewmembers on these long journeys and sailing in these remote environments fostered in her a love of nature. After a short stint studying Law, she decided upon a career on the ocean. With her experience in cocktail lounges and fine dining, Holly took naturally to the role of stewardess and worked for four years aboard charter yachts in the South Pacific and Asia before joining Perseus^3 last year. She is passionate about yoga and meditation, having recently begun her studies in India. She also loves dancing, cooking and spending time with her friends and family.
Although originally from rural Bloemfontein, South Africa, Charissa has always had a passion for the ocean. Her love for sailing started at the age of 7 when her and her family left South Africa on a round the world sailing trip bound for everywhere. Crossing the Atlantic and island hopping through the Caribbean on her dads 60ft Gaff rigged schooner are memories she will never forget. After being based in the USA for a few years her family finally settled in Costa Rica which is where Charissa was based until she joined the yachting industry 5 years ago. Although new to Perseus^3, Charissa has worked on several other large sailing yachts including Seahawk and Bella Ragazza and looks forward to providing good quality service for all guests. During her free time she enjoy swimming, snorkeling, diving, paddle boarding, hiking, baking and reading.
Perseus^3 is available for charter in the Mediterranean through summer 2019, and in the Caribbean for the winter 2019/20 season.
